MY QUESTION FOR SONNY
************************************

Luke from North Carolina asks.... AGE: 15

Hey Sonny what's up? I was wondering how the fame and money of being a rockstar has affected you. I have my own band and we hope to someday become famous and tour like you guys. Do u still hang out with your fans like you used to? And how are u treated now that you are famous and do u treat people differently? I remember last march in 2000 me and my whole band went to the Primus show in Raleigh, NC at the Ritz just to see u guys open for them, You guys were really cool and let us come hang out with you on the bus. You may not remember, but our drummer asked Wuv for a drumstick and he invited us on the bus and we chilled with him and Traa before you and Marcos showed up. I was just wondering if u still hang out with fans like this since your popularity has increased. Neways hope u pick my question. Peace out man.

SONNY: I'm still paying old bills homie. I'm still me. Myself and the guys will always be the same. The only thing I think that has changed is most peoples concept of us, thinking that we've changed or turned into "Rock Stars." We're still the same old ghetto kids fromthe South. The only thing that would stop us from hanging out is scheduling. Most of the time we're running around like crazy for radio interviews, label meet and greets, etc.. So when we can we kick it. We're usually hanging out at the nearest mall when we can. So we always run into somebody there.

Juan from San Diego, CA asks..... AGE: 28

When's the a new album coming out?

SONNY: The album should be out this summer. We start recording on the 9th of April.

Joel Weichbrodt from Hillsboro, Oregon asks..... AGE: 18

Professional skateboarder and recent born-again Jamie Thomas was asked if he still listens to secular music, and he answered yes, that if you listen with the right heart then there isn't any problem. How do you approach listening to secular music? (side note: I asked Marcos that question after your Portland,OR show, and he answered the same way as Thomas did, but I'm just curious about yourself. Thanks again for staying after the show to talk and pray with us, I'll never forget it.)

SONNY: Bottom line is, I love music! This is the business I am in. I listen to all sorts of music, depending on what mood I'm in. That's the beauty of music. I try to stay away from anything that makes me feel bad. A lot of music today, pure and simple, just depresses me. So then why would I listen to it? Plus, in my truck, my wife and baby girl are with me all the time, so I don't want to play anything that's bad for their ears.

Marybeth Kelly from South Bend, IN asks..... AGE: 17

What are your guys plans for this coming year? Touring??? If you do, come to South Bend. :-)

SONNY: Right now we're writing the album. We record in LA on the 9th of April. We should be done late May. Then I believe we're out forever again. We might go to Australia and Japan first, come back to the states, the hit up Europe again In October. Then more shows in the USA after that till the end of the year.

Steven Litton from Roswell, Georgia asks...... AGE:14

Where do you get the reference "Jah?" I know you are referring to God but before you I had never heard of Him being called that.

SONNY: In the King Jame Version, Psalm 68:4 says: Sing to God, sing praise to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, by his name Jah, and rejoice before Him. It's also short for Jehovah. The name has been made popular by the Jamaican Rasta since back in the day.

Ron and Sandi Dean from Portland, OR ask..... AGE: 34

Hi Sonny, I know you probably won't answer this but I've been trying to find out since I saw the SouthTown video. I really think you guys are the best although I'm a 34 year old mom my husband and I love to listen to you guys and think you guys are great role models for our kids 13 and 16, and for all teens. I really wish there were Christians bands like you guys when we were young. My ? is about when in San Diego are you from, my husband and I are from I.B. you know Imperial beach and I know that's the I.B. pier in the SouthTown video. Are you guys from I.B.? Thanks for being such a great band and God bless you always.

SONNY: We grew up right off of Palm Ave. It's like three exits up from the Tijuana Border. I.B. is 5 minutes away. We've been kicking it down in I.B. since we were kids. We use to surf there all the time. You know we put in down for Imperial Beach. We're still in the neighborhood. Thanks for the Love.

Vince Marjes from Mission Viejo, CA AGE: 23

I want to ask Sonny.....what hip-hop groups/artists he enjoys listening to...which ones does he really dig and respect for their talents....basically who his hop-hop influence are....thanks

SONNY: I've been listening to Hip-Hop since I was young. I grew up on stuff like Run-DMC, LL Kool J, Rakim, Boogie Down Projuction, Slick Rick, etc.. Old school heads like that. These days. there are a lot of talent MC's, but it's not the same. The topics have changed. There's not too many positive lyricists anymore.

Tegan Hipple from Waldo, Wisconsin asks..... AGE: 16

Sonny, how do you feel about people calling your music evil.....or having some Christian churches say that you guys are bad because the sound of your music puts rage into people?

SONNY: It's always wack to have people talk negative about you, but honestly, we pay it no mind. We do out thing. They were talking about us 10 years ago as well. The church wasn't down with Jesus either. We just want to go wherever God leads us.

Sherese Pollard from Tulsa,Oklahoma asks...... AGE: 17

Sonny, I would like to know why you didn't sign autographs after the show on Nov. 20th in Tulsa,OK? I am a collector of autographs and bracelets form all the band I go to see in concert, and you guys just went straight to the bus after the show. It kinda aggravated me, Sonny. P.O.D. is one of the two autographs/bracelets I don't have and I was wondering if you would, maybe, send all you guy's autographs to me. If you can't, I understand, but it would mean SOOOOOOOO much to me.

SONNY: I remember going to the bus because I was soaking wet and it was 3 degrees outside. But after we dried off we were outside of the bus with a gang of people. I remember because I was sick and wasn't helping me to be out when it was that cold. So I don't know where you were girlfriend. (ha ha) But we'll make it up to you next time. Tulsa is like a second home for us. So I know we'll be in town soon.

Rachael Perry from Frisco, Texas asks..... AGE: 17

What's up, Sonny? I saw you guys at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. You guys really rocked the party!!!!!!!! It was awesome. Keep up the great work. My question to you is how do you as a band write your music? Have you had any formal musical training, or are you guys just working on the talent God has given you?

SONNY: We get together and have fun jamming. Most of the time we'll write the music, and then write the lyrics later. I think Traa might of had a little training back in the day, but the rest of us have no clue of what we're doing. I know we're definitely blessed to do this.

Manuel Atigas from Clovis, California asks..... AGE: 18

Sonny I wanted to ask what are we to expect from the new album and are you going to be playing bigger venues the next tour? We have the Selland Arena in Fresno.

SONNY: I think it's going to be an album that's us right now. I think we've grown every album we've done, dating back to our first demos. We mature daily musically, spiritually, and just as brothers in General. I hope that the album does well so we can play bigger venues. I'm down with arenas.

Emily Olivieri from Brooklyn, NY asks..... AGE: 18

Do you feel as if you have to tone down the message of Jesus Christ in your music in order to reach a larger audience?

SONNY: I believe as a Christian, our message is our living examples. It's no secret that we're Christians, now people just want to know us for who we are. I think wherever we go we need to be able to relate to people as well as be approachable ourselves. I want to speak a language that everyone can understand.

Justin Burkett from N/A asks..... AGE: N/A

Sonny- what's it like being so famous? I have a band and I was just wondering what it felt like to be touring with some of the top bands out there. I was just wondering. Well, I hope u actually answer this. Keep it real, man. I'm praying for u and the rest of the band. God bless.

SONNY: Honestly, I don't feel like, "I'm famous," whatever that means. We're still the same 'ol guys. We're just thankful that our music is being heard by a larger number of people these days. It feels good that after 10 years of doing this. people are noticing us.

Ed Rue from Rahway, NJ asks..... AGE: 15

Yo Sonny, where did you guys come up with the cover for the "snuff the punk" album????

SONNY: An old homeboy of ours drew it up for us. We wanted it to have meaning but still street, kind of crazy and hardcore.

John Mooney from Crawley, West Sussex England asks..... AGE: N/A

I am a fan living in England. I saw P.O.D. when you played with Korn at Wembley in London last year and have been a fan ever since. What are your memory's of that being in the UK?

SONNY: The UK is real cool. We were just hyped that there was people we could talk to. All the other countries we were lost in languages. Wembley was cool except they only let in about 10% of the people while we played. Most of the people were outside. But we got to kick it with our boys from Blindside.

Steve from Orlando, FL asks...... AGE: 14

When will POD's next full length come out, and how has it been on your personal faith through the last year with it being insanely busy and touring with bands that don't see things like you?

SONNY: Hopefully this summer. We're blessed. The hardest thing is being away from home. Home is your comfort zone. Everything is normal when your home. When your on the road you have to readjust everything from sleeping to eating to your personal walk with God. But we're surrounded always with each other and those that are down with us. Touring with a lot of these bands is probably the coolest part. They get a chance to see us for what and who we are, and not just a stereotype that leaves a bad taste in most peoples mouth. Most of these guys are all baby dolls compared to my friends, so it's not like I'm shocked to meet somebody that's not a Christian. We just stay true to who we are.

----> CLOSING NOTE..... Thanks everybody for sending in your questions. Sorry it took so long. My schedule has been kind of crazy lately. Muck Love to all you guys. We think about the Warriors all the time. We pray for you everyday. Keep up the good fight. Thanks for representing 24/7. You guys are P.O.D.. We're about to come off nice in 2001. Keep holding it down. We love you guys. See you soon. JAH LOVE family..........sonny
